FAT
FAT is a French graffiti artist born in 1990 in Paris.
Drawn to photography, he first earned a vocational certificate (CAP) in photography before attending the Lycée Professionnel Régional de la Photographie et de l'Image in Paris (Brassaï). Studio projects and exhibitions soon followed.
While photographing members of the TVA crew, he met FAST, who guided him and introduced him to graffiti. He joined the crew in 2005, creating murals and engaging in street vandalism. At first, combining his mastery of photography with painting techniques, he focused primarily on lettering.
Even today, you might stumble upon Looney Tunes characters in a train station or subway corridor. FAT also continues to create lettering pieces.
The subjects of his paintings are often depicted outside their original context, which is replaced by a graffiti backdrop. Colors are vivid, and the background is richly worked, featuring extensive lettering. Spray paint contrasts with Posca markers and acrylics.
The childlike, comic-inspired universe familiar to us all is projected into FAT’s unique world.
