JORIS GHILINI
Born in 1978, Joris Ghilini is a multifaceted self-taught artist. His work explores a wide range of techniques: painting, sculpture, drawing. For him, creation is inherently imperfect. His artistic practice thrives on rupture and questioning, seeking to probe the meaning of image, myth, and the sacred.
He draws inspiration as much from art history—Dutch painters of the 15th and 16th centuries, the New Realists, or Pop Art—as from contemporary subcultures such as Street Art or science fiction. His works bear the marks of passing time, wear, and decay, as if future archaeologists were to uncover great forgotten masterpieces, damaged and then preserved in plexiglass cases, fragile relics of a past to be reinvented.
