PEPPONE

Peppone, whose real name is Christophe Tixier (born in 1970), is a French artist based near Aix-en-Provence. The son of two teachers, he has kept from his childhood the conviction that sharing is one of life’s greatest gifts. His studio, nestled at the foot of the Luberon in a small industrial area, is a true poetic bric-a-brac where recycled pieces, raw materials and second-hand treasures pile up — a world perfectly suited to creation.

Nourished by popular culture, Peppone draws his inspiration from comic books, cartoons, cinema, and all the heroes who shaped his childhood imagination. He owns a collection of around 500 comic book albums, often old and sometimes incomplete, gathered over years of flea markets and generous donations. These books represent for him an intimate heritage, a deep connection to his personal and family history.

A versatile artist, he works with resin, fiberglass, cemented plaster, spray paint and paint markers, giving life to sculptures, paintings and editions with vivid colors and the energetic spirit of pop art and street art.

For Peppone, art doesn’t need to be intellectual to touch people: above all, he seeks to awaken memories, to bring back the emotions and magic of childhood. By blending comics, cinema, urban culture and pop aesthetics, he offers an accessible, joyful and nostalgic art — a reminder that childhood never truly leaves us, and that each of us carries within a dream worth preserving.
