GREGORY WATIN
Born in 1976 in France, Grégory Watin grew up in a working-class neighborhood in northern France. A lover of drawing and music, he began studying musicology with the ambition of becoming a teacher, all the while continuing to paint and draw. It was while attending his first exhibitions that he decided, with the support and encouragement of his family and friends, to dedicate himself entirely to his passion for the visual arts. Deeply influenced and inspired by his working-class background, this artist is now internationally recognized for his "urban" style. Working to music in his studio, he likes to describe his painting as "electro." He photographs, glues, assembles, and reclaims unusual materials from the street to create vibrant, unique, and poetic works. Nature, wood, cardboard, paper, plexiglass... nothing escapes him; Grégory Watin must seize the idea before it vanishes. His contemporary poetry has been featured in numerous exhibitions across Europe and the United States over the past 15 years.
